Product Category doesn't show products of the current category

Hello,

I have a product page template with the block Product Category. I set the query to default to show the current category. The categories are organized as a tree with a common parent category. Each product has assinged its subcategory. When i load the product page, the block shows all products from the parent category, not the selected default category.

I tried all kinds of combinations. I set the product with only one category (the subcategory it belongs to) and it stills shows all the prodcuts from the parent category.
