Displaying custom taxonomy on Product Template

Our theme developer tells me that our “Product Author” data is stored in a custom taxonomy and not in custom fields. As such, I haven’t been able to pull the data into a template using WooCommerce Product Custom Key. Is there a way to pull custom taxonomy fields into a template?
